Girl Talk Tips – No Guys Allowed
Let’s be real, this is your day to shine. You need every tip and every idea that might work for you so you can decide which you want to use.
Let’s talk make-up! You may be the type you doesn’t wear a whole lot of it, but on your wedding day, you are going to want a little extra frosting for all those glam shots that are going to be in your wedding album a lifetime.
Here are some tips…get a free makeover at your local mall. Don’t feel obligated to buy anything, but do at least pick-up an item or two that you do like for their trouble, and yes, those salespeople have to be there anyway, and I’m sure they’d rather be doing something that sitting there looking like nobody wants their products. Besides, did you ever notice that as soon as you start looking at something in a mall, other people start gathering around too? It’s like magic. So just think of yourself as a good marketing tool and enjoy the process. Not comfortable with that, get a glamour shot and watch everything they do to emphasize your best features-make notes as soon as you leave, and don’t wash off the make-up, get dressed and go out with the girls and see what reaction you get from them, and strangers.

Okay, you have now decided on a look…now for hair, if wearing it down, you can always try wigs in your color and length. Most brides opt to wear hair up. You really need to find your hairdresser, or good friend who is a whiz with styling, and try out the actual hairdo, no less than a month before the wedding. If you have your veil or headdress in your hands by then, try them together and ask your girlfriends, and mother, sisters, whatever female support system you have, for their opinions. If you have one of those girlfriends who always gives you bad advice so she’ll look better, do the opposite of what she says…you should know that trick by now-right?? Don't Listen.
Nails, we have a few things to say here….nail color is absolutely your choice, if you are a Gothic Gal, and black is your thing, well, it is “your” wedding, although a nice compromise would be gloves, your mother would be happy, or if you are nail biter, that’s a good option too. Pale girly colors are great, a pop of color that matches your bridesmaids dresses to a fabulous idea, but in the end, a nice clean natural Swiss or French Nail look says natural beauty.
Let’s talk skintone-do you want a rich beautiful healthy looking tan, or do you have flawless skin that you just want to shine? For that tan, do NOT use the sun or a tanning bed…you do not want to take a chance on becoming a crispy critter with swollen eyes, peeling skin, or worse, actual burns and skin damage. No, no, girlfriend….want a tan, get a professional to spray it on. They can even contour cheekbones or your nose to make you the appear thinner and you can try it out at least a month before hand, and see how many days it lasts for your skin type so you can know how many days before the wedding to do it again-provided you liked the look. Same for facials, if you are one of those ladies blessed with great skin, try out a facial in advance too, see if it gives you that glow you want and make note of how many days it will last you.
Now don’t forget perfume-find a scent that works for you. Find the one that makes him weak in the knees-and buy it.
Okay, now it’s time for the test run….about a month or so before “your” big day….try out all of the above, tan/facial, nails, make-up and hair. If you have a special occasion you are going to, great time to try it out and get reactions, if not, make Mr. Wonderful take you to a romantic dinner to just take a break from all the wedding details for the night and reconnect. Come wedding day, you will know what does or doesn’t work for you. Now isn’t that better than waiting until the last minute and screaming, “This Doesn’t Work!!” Do yourself a favor and take out time for “beautiful” you.
